Taking antibiotics for colds and other viral illnesses not only won't work, but also has a dangerous side effects: over time, this practice helps create bacteria that have become more challenging to kill. Frequent and inappropriate use of antibiotics creates strains of bacteria that can resist treatment. This is called bacterial resistance. These resistant bacteria require higher doses of medicine or stronger antibiotics to treat. Doctors have even found bacteria that are resistant to some of the most powerful antibiotics available today.
There are guidelines that would help you take your antibiotics correctly.
-Treat only bacterial infections. Seek advice and ask questions.
-Use antibiotics as prescribed.
-Don't save antibiotics for next time.
-Never use another person's prescription
Help fight antibiotic resistance by taking simple steps to prevent the spread of infections. Encouraging hand washing will work also, make sure your kids are up to date on immunizations, and keep kids out of school when sick.

Nice topic for your blog! I think you picked a cool topic for your blog and i learned alot from reading it, i did not know that overusing anti biotics was so dangerous. Nice job and good information.
Wow, I never knew a lot of the information that is in this posting. I do take antibotics quite often when I badly get sick. I never use antibotics over again when I become sick with the same symptoms as last time though, but I guess maybe I should talk to my doctor more about bacterial infections and antibotics.
I rarely take antibiotics when I have a cold, or any other viral sickness. It's good to know that they have dangerouse side effects if you take then when their not needed. Good Job...I learned a lot from this post.
I think it is bad when people take antibiotics when they are not supposed to. The only time i take antibiotics are when i am sick and actually need them. That is what they are meant for.
Wow, I never realized there were so many dangerous side effects to antibiotics. Even though doctors found bacteria that are resistant to some of the most powerful anitbiotics, it seems that they always prescribe an antibiotic. But now I know all the guidelines to take antibiotics correctly when prescribed by a doctor!(haha)I think this is a very important topic!
I can't believe that some bacteria are immune to the anti biotics we have today. It's good to know these things.
Excellent blog Joshua. I guess i wont be taking my antibiotics for my cold. What do you mean saving antibiotics for next time? Good info.
